Cold welding

For aesthetic and maintenance reasons, the visible seam is finished with cold welding. This is done using painter's tape, which is applied to both sides of the V-groove, in order to get the edges neat.
After applying the tape, the cold weld is sprayed quite thickly into the groove. This may bulge when applied, as the cold weld collapses during drying.

Once the entire seam has been welded, the masking tape is removed. It is important to do this while the cold seal is still liquid, to prevent a (semi-)formed sheet from being pulled along with the tape..
